Northern Argentina Positions
Following a visit of the Latin Link Representative in the last
Urban Pastoral Meeting, the short term programs STEP and STRIDE from Latin
Link have been approved. This means that there is a new openness to
consider short term missions which is quite an achievement.
The Urban churches need the following personnel:
1. Medical doctors
2. Nurses
3. Teachers
4. A couple to work in a new church plant in San Salvador de Jujuy
5. A couple to work in a new church plant in Formosa city
The latter two would be good to have a presence of 4 years. However, if
somebody could stay for less time, this would be fine too.

Short Term Missionary Service is:
Short Term Service is anywhere from a week or two up to 6
months, and offers an opportunity to gain a taste of mission work and sparking enthusiasm
in local churches for ongoing mission involvement. This can include
sending teams of youth and adults who go to assist Long Term Mission Partners
with specific projects and ministry. This could be a unique vacation
experience, an adventure for youth groups, or just the right opportunity to kick
off, or spice up, retirement.
Mid Term Missionary Service is:
Mid Term Mission Partners go to Latin America for
anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. They are responsible for their own
support and will be directed to wherever work is available.
Long Term Missionary Service is:
Long Term Mission Partners make a commitment for at least three
years plus preparation and deputation time. This involves raising prayer,
financial and practical support from friends, home church, other churches and
groups and maintaining communication with supporters and SAMS Canada.
Placement in Latin America is arranged with an individual diocese and its
Bishop, through our Mission Personnel Committee.
Short Term Group Mission Service
Groups are an important part of mission service and the mission
trip will normally last only one or two weeks. Generally a group will go
to an area with specific objectives. These could include providing dental
or medical service, building a fence around a structure, or building or
renovating a structure. These groups work with SAMS Canada members in
setting up, planning, and preparation for the trip. They then work closely
with mission staff in the host area when they get there.
